Lunches of Love

Youth Mission Trip
The Youth of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church went on a mission trip to downtown Houston from June 22-25. The trip was in partnership with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church from Friendswood and was through the CUSE (Cathedral Urban Service Experience) Program at Christ Church Cathedral. The Youth engaged in outreach activities, touching lives at The Salvation Army, The Way Station at Palmer Episcopal in the Museum District, and the Open Door Mission. Work was performed to aid those in need with food, toiletries, and clothing. The Youth also engaged with those Houstonians utilizing the programs and were able to share stories and life experiences, gaining a new perspective on others circumstances right here in our community. Both youth groups worked a total of 325 hours!

January 5 at 3pm, we made history at St. Mark’s!  The Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle visited our church, and on this most special occasion he dedicated our new education/preschool building and confirm members of the parish.  It was a day to celebrate!

Ground Breaking Ceremony

Break Ground!
On Sunday, April 7th, everyone was invited to join in the "turning of the first sod" at the building site of our new Education/Preschool Building. The day started with a special worship service at 10 AM, followed by the official Groundbreak-ing Ceremony at 11 AM, and then a barbecue lunch reception. Many special guests were present for the event, including the mayors of Richmond and Rosenberg. A shovel contest was held with awards given for biggest shovel, smallest shovel, best decorated shovel and shovel best depicting the core values of the church.  Vincent Arnold, one of the judges in the shovel contest, is holding two of the winning shovels.  Jeri Culberson won for Best Decorated Shovel, left, and Lynnett Alderson won for Shovel best depicting the Core Values. Congratulations to the winners!

JDRF Walk
Saint Mark's Saints for a Cure
On Saturday, October 27th, sixteen members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Richmond participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk for a Cure at Reliant Stadium.  Our youth named our team "Saints for a Cure".  Prior to the walk, our youth had put together a Power Point Presentation on Type 1 Diabetes to help raise awareness to the church at our 4th Sunday Fellowship Dinner.  The "Saints for a Cure" raised over $1,400 dollars for the JDRF organization.  Thank you to all who helped get us that much closer to helping find a cure!

Blessing of the Animals
On St. Francis Day, October 4, the Rev. Bert Baetz and Pstr. Cloude Villemire from St. Paul Evan Lutheran Church visted several animal shelters for the blessing of the animals. The occasion is to honor St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the two ministers were welcomed at the Fort Bend County Animal Service in Rosenberg and Sugar Land.
