A Word from our Rector

Giving

We joyfully invite you to give to the mission and ministry of St. Mark's. As Christians, we give financially to our church out of gratitude. God has been generous to us in the life and work of Jesus Christ. Returning a portion of our financial resources is a sign of our gratitude to God. There are several ways to give to St. Mark's.  Click here to learn more ways to give to St. Mark's.

Music

Choir and Handbells Rehearsals
If you love to sing and enjoy having a great time with friends, the St. Mark’s Choir is for you!  We have Choir rehearsals on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.  We also have a three-octave set of Malmark handbells.  We have handbell choir rehearsals on Wednesdays, at 6:00 p.m.. This is a wonderful opportunity to being a new ministry that will truly enhance our worship experiences.  There is absolutely no experience required, and you don’t even need to know how to read music.  Please join us as we prepare for leading in worship each week, as well as for special musical offerings throughout the year.  For more information click here.  We look forward to sharing this wonderful opportunity with you!

Learning

Adult Formation - Book Study
We are studying, "Surprised by Paradox: The Promise of "And" in an Either-or World by Jen Pollock Michel . We meet for Adult Formation at 1 p.m. by Zoom on Wednesdays. Let Rev. Susie know if you are interested in studying this book with us! Click here for the link to buy the book.

Youth Christian Formation Fall 2021
Youth Christian Formation at St. Mark’s will resume on Sunday, September 12.  Kids’ Kingdom intended for youth in grades 1-5 will begin the year on YouTube.  Families signed up to participate will receive supply bags with the materials necessary to complete the activity that ties in with the scripture lesson.  Kids’ Kingdom will start with an Old Testament study of Joseph.  The 6-12 grade group will meet in person outside between 9:15-9:45 each Sunday.  The curriculum will be Real and Relevant that follows the lectionary and provides movie clips to focus on the applications of the scripture to their daily lives.  Please contact Chris Abbott with any questions regarding either program. Helping Others

Love through Literacy
At the Fort Bend Women's Shelter there are always children arriving that do not have a single book of their own. A child's ability to read improves when they have their own books to read and reread. The Outreach Committee would like to help with that by providing the shelter with a modest assortment of quality books for a child to pick from, put their name in and keep. Please order a new book from this list of classics and then ship it directly to the church. Don’t forget to let us know you sent it. This is a practical and meaningful way to change a child's life. A bookplate will let them know it came from St. Mark's, with love. Our goal is All Saint's Day, to have them all collected. Click here for a list of books.

Fort Bend Family Promise
We are providing four weeks of meals to families that Fort Bend Family Promise is helping to stabilize: one week of meals per quarter in 2021.  (This is a national ministry that works to stabilize families that are homeless into stable homes. All these families are identified through the school system and have children). October 11 through October 16 is our next week.
Can you cook a meal for a group or deliver it? Let
Rev. Susie know.
Invitation Sunday
Imagine a Sunday when people invite a friend to come to church with them! That day is September 19th. Please invite family, neighbors and friends to come to church or view online. Have a watch party from home! We hope that many, who would otherwise not feel comfortable coming alone, will attend with a friend who has extended an invitation to them. We also will have brunch outside between the services.

Blessing of the Animals
What does God say about your pets and animals? Come find out! Bring your pet, and join us at St. Mark's for the Blessing of the Animals, on Sunday, October 3, at 4pm. That afternoon, amid the barks, howls and meows, we will share in a liturgy and offer a blessing to each animal and his or her owner.
