A Word from our Rector

Giving

We joyfully invite you to give to the mission and ministry of St. Mark's. As Christians, we give financially to our church out of gratitude. God has been generous to us in the life and work of Jesus Christ. Returning a portion of our financial resources is a sign of our gratitude to God. There are several ways to give to St. Mark's.  Click here to learn more ways to give to St. Mark's.

Music

Choir and Handbells Rehearsals
If you love to sing and enjoy having a great time with friends, the St. Mark’s Choir is for you!  We have Choir rehearsals on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.  We also have a three-octave set of Malmark handbells.  We have handbell choir rehearsals on Sundays, at 11:00 a.m.. This is a wonderful opportunity to being a new ministry that will truly enhance our worship experiences.  There is absolutely no experience required, and you don’t even need to know how to read music.  Please join us as we prepare for leading in worship each week, as well as for special musical offerings throughout the year.  For more information click here.  We look forward to sharing this wonderful opportunity with you!

Learning

Adult Formation - Book Study
On December 1st, we will start a new book, together via ZOOM. The Wisdom Pattern; Order, Disorder, Reorder, by Richard Rohr. Richard Rohr, OFM, is a Franciscan priest, who lives in New Mexico. He is an internationally recognized author and spiritual leader. “We are indeed 'saved' by knowing and surrendering to this universal pattern of reality. Knowing the full pattern allows us to let go of our first order, trust the disorder, and, sometimes even hardest of all—to trust the new reorder. Three big leaps of faith for all of us, and each of a different character.” —from the introduction . A universal pattern can be found in all societies and in fact in all of creation. We see it in the seasons of the year; the stories of Scripture; the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus; the rise and fall of civilizations; and even in our own lives. In this new version of one of his earlier books, Father Richard Rohr illuminates the way understanding and embracing this pattern can give us hope in difficult times and the courage to push through messiness and even great chaos to find a new way of being in the world.

Youth Christian Formation Fall 2021
Kids’ Kingdom intended for youth in grades 1-5 will begin the year on YouTube.  Families signed up to participate will receive supply bags with the materials necessary to complete the activity that ties in with the scripture lesson.  Kids’ Kingdom will start with an Old Testament study of Joseph.  The 6-12 grade group will meet in person outside between 9:15-9:45 each Sunday.  The curriculum will be Real and Relevant that follows the lectionary and provides movie clips to focus on the applications of the scripture to their daily lives.  Please contact Chris Abbott with any questions regarding either program. Helping Others

Souper Bowl of Caring
St. Mark’s will again this year be participating in The Souper Bowl of Caring.  The Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 as a way to tackle the challenge of hunger in this country.  St. Mark’s has participated for the last several years.  There will be containers provided in the narthex for canned food and the collection will be completed on Super Bowl Sunday, February 13.  If you would like to write a check you may do so by making a check out to St. Mark’s, but designate in the memo line that the funds are for The Souper Bowl of Caring.  Please support this very worthwhile program as we reach out to those in need.
